Its been an unbelievably long and cold winter, but it appears that spring might have finally arrived, and nothing in the wine world better signals the arrival of spring than rose’! When we speak of rose’, we generally mean the drier, more European style, pinkish-hued wines.
Historically, pink wines were predominantly dry, until the White Zinfandel craze of the 1980’s made pink synonymous with overly sweet in the mind of many wine drinkers. Dry style rose’ has been making a comeback over the past decade or so, and it really has hit full steam only over the past couple of years.
Wine drinkers have come to realize dry rose’ is one of the most versatile, food friendly, and just overall enjoyable wines on the market, especially when the temperature rises! The newest vintage of rose’ wines start to arrive right around this time of year, but we are firm believers that if a rose’ is well made, drinking a one or two vintage old rose’ is just as good, and even sometimes better, than drinking the freshest vintage.
We have a broad and varied selection of dry rose’, from the Finger Lakes to Portugal, France to California, Spain to Oregon, and anywhere in between.
This is but a small selection of dry rose’ from the 2012 and 2013 vintage. Stop in or shop online for our full selection.
Celebrate the arrival of spring with dry rose’!
